FAQs

Why is plastering used?

Plastering involves applying a smooth layer of plaster to internal walls or ceilings to create a clean, even surface ready for decorating. It also protects surfaces and helps improve durability.

How long does plaster take to dry?

Plaster typically takes between 2 to 7 days to dry, depending on thickness, ventilation in the room and temperature. It should turn from dark brown to a light pink colour before painting.

When can I paint newly-plastered walls?

You should wait until the plaster is fully dry. Start with a mist coat of diluted emulsion or a suitable primer to seal the surface before applying full coats of paint.

Will your plasterers be messy?

Plastering can be messy, but our professional tradesmen will take steps to cover and protect your floors, furniture and fixtures. We always clean up thoroughly after the job is complete too.

How much does plastering cost?

Costs vary depending on the room size, condition of the walls and the amount of work required. Skimming a single wall obviously costs less than plastering a full room, which costs more if the plasterboard needs to be installed.
